Marine Ship Launching Airbag

Ship Launching marine airbag is a kind of inflatable air bags with high pressure used for launching a vessel. It is also named marine airbags, ship launching balloon, roller bags, air lifting bags, invented in 1980, which is a modern launching methods in the shipbuilding industry nowdays.

The Xiao Qinghe Shipyard is the first use of ship launching marine airbags in 1981, January 20 for a tank barge’s launch. Ships and barges’ launching and vessels’ dry docking, upsliping are the marine use of Marine Airbags. But with the development of marine engineering and reparing equipments industry, marine airbags can be used for heavy structures lifting and moving in the construction industry also, conveying like cofferdams, caissions ( launching ). Rubber airbags are filled with air inside, they sometimes can be worked as pneumatic air bags rollers ( refloatation tube ) providing extra buoyancy for sunken ships, concrete blocks and floating docks.

Ronsen marine airbags are widely used in both small and medium-sized vessels, boats, tugboats and fishing boats. etc.

CONSTRUCTION FEATURES

Ship Launching Marine Airbags, are made of inner rubber layers, synthetic-tyre-cord-reinforced rubber layers and outer rubber layers. The marine airbag body, is a cylindrical rollers with air sealed inside after fully inflated, two hemispherical conical parts which is called marine airbags heads at both ends, conneting the air bag body and mouths of the marine airbags. The ship launching marine airbags mouths are installed with metal valves mounted for airbag pulling. All of these are vulcanized together while marine airbags are completed, ready for shipping.

  • Outer Rubber

Marine airbags outer rubber layer should have sufficient tensile and tear strength as per ISO 14409 which is required follows. They are to protect inner rubber layer and reinforcement tyre layers from abrasion and other external forces.

  • Synthetic-tire-cord rubber reinforcement layers

Synthetic-tire-cord rubber reinforcement layer of ship launching marine airbags are made of rubber coated synthetic-tire-cord fabrics. Several synthetic-tire-cord layers are twined at ideal angles by traditional Holistic Wrapping Technology. Currently, Ronsen marine use 1400D/3 type synthetic-tire-cord fabric. The warp is over 95 cords per 100 mm in width, with breaking strength more than 300 N per cords.

How to Launch With "Ship Launching Marine Rubber Airbags"

How to Select Marine Airbags?

Each marine airbag is consisted of Effective Length ( EL ), Diameter ( D ), Plies or Layers. So when we are choosing suitable sizes, what we need to do is to focus on the three factors only.

  • Effective Length

Effective length is not less than the maximum width of vessel. While you are arranging two rows of airbags, remember to calculate the total length of two rows to avoid contact of airbags.

  • Diameter

Airbag’s diameter is decided by the height of vessels’s supporting blocks.

  • Plies or Layers

Plies or Layers normally decide performance of each airbag. Generally speaking, 6 layers airbags could be applied to most of engineering projects.

If you need some engineering support from us, please do not hesitate to answer following questions or contact us.

  1. Type of vessel?

  2. LOA (length) of vessel?

  3. Width of vessel?

  4. Vessels actual launched weight (light weight)?

  6. The condition of slipway (slope, tide schedule, water depth, ground and so on)?

  7. The blocks height under the vessel?

  8. Distance from the propeller to the end of launch ramp?

ACCEPTANCE TESTS

Basically, Ronsen Ship Launching Marine Airbags are tested before shipment following on the below items which are the keypoints of one marine airbag.

>>The appearance of per Ronsen roller bag is smooth, glossy and without blemish such as crack, blister, delamination, pits or impurities.

>> The length and diameter of per air rubber bag are measured with the rated safety working pressure (an tolerance of 3%).

>> The gas-tightness is tested without carrying any load as per ISO 14409. The pressure loss is less than 5% of rated working pressure within 1 hour.

“Ronsen ship launching marine airbags are type of CCS approved”. Type Approval Test is the essential and necessary qualification of qualified manfacturer of marine airbags. In addition to the requirements for the material, appearance and dimensional tolerances, “Gas-tightness Test”, “Compression Test”, “Bearing Capacity Test”, “Bursting Test”, and “Compression-recovery Test” are carrie out.

All Ronsen ship launching air rubber airbags are produced and tested comply with ISO 14409 “Ships and marine technology – ship launching air bags”, certified by ABS, LR, BV etc. There are two more Chinese Industrial standards and one ISO standard for shi launching marine airbags:

– CB/T 3837-1998 Technological Requirements for ship Upgrading or Launching Relying on Airbags ( Shipbuilding industry Standard, PRC ) – CB/T 3795- 1996/CB/T 3795-2009 Air bag for ship up to down to launching way (Shipbuilding industry Standard, PRC)

– ISO 17682 Ship sand marine technology
